Port of Clarkston - Fiber to the Home Phase I
As part of the Port of Clarkston’s efforts to enhance telecommunication services within and without its district, the Port obtained funding from the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) to build fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) to serve West Clarkston Heights. As authorized by statute, the Port builds telecommunications infrastructure and operates the systemin a “dark fiber model” wherein it leases the fiber internet service providers (ISPs) to sell services (phone, internet, television) to end users. Upon completion, the fiber infrastructure will pass approximately 286 homes in the West Clarkston Heights neighborhood. The map to the right shows the project boundaries. Homes in this neighborhood are included in the design and may choose to order services from any of the ISPs associated with the project.

Note: The only decent broadband speeds-which are well short of state goals - are on the commercial corridors. Homes in this area are tragically underserved.
